1.1 The student will be able to describe the characteristics of living organisms.
1.2 The student will know the levels of organization in living things from simple to complex.
1.3 The student will be able to identify the major systems of the body by general functions and by organs in the system.
1.4 The student will be able to correctly identify the planes of the body and the related directional terms used to navigate through the body.
1.5 The student will be able to identify the major cavities, regions, and sections of the body.
Goal 2. To have a working knowledge of anatomical and physiological terminology.
2.1 The student will demonstrate appropriate use of terminology during oral and written exercises.
2.2 The student will develop an understanding of the origins, meanings and applications of roots, prefixes and suffixes used in anatomy and physiology in order to build vocabulary skills.
Goal 3. To understand the homeostatic mechanisms which regulate the systems of the body and the interdependence of the eleven body systems.
3.1 The student will identify the parts of a homeostatic feedback system.
3.2 The student will be able to identify and provide examples of positive and negative feedback systems in the body.
