Keys to Success in this Class...
1. Anatomy is only offered as an Honors course because just learning the material itself is challenging. While basic human anatomy has not changed over the past century, our understanding of the physiology of the different organ systems has. Studying is NOT an option...it is REQUIRED for your success in this class. Some students have not had to really study before; when you finish anatomy you will leave Harnett Central with good study skills to prepare you for life after high school, whatever those plans may be.
2. Don’t attempt to memorize the information presented in this course; it is far too overwhelming and not realistic. No one doctor can diagnose and treat all ailments; that’s what specialists are for. Instead, try to APPLY what you learn in this course to your daily life. Draw applications and make comparisons when you can. You will be more successful and will retain the information longer.
3. Never put off tomorrow what you can do today. Procrastination never did anything good for anyone, and anatomy is no exception. With daily quizzes, new notes everyday, and numerous projects, you MUST stay on top of your work. To do otherwise will result in less than desirable grades.
4. Come to school...EVERYDAY! Attendance is so important, and having notes available online really isn’t the same as being in class and interacting with the teacher and your peers. Unless you are sick, it is strongly advised for you to attend daily.
5. Like most things, you will get out of this course what you put into it. You have the amazing opportunity to learn a tremendous amount about your body and how it functions to maintain homeostasis. You can take what you learn in this course and apply it to medical issues your family members or friends may have, or you can continue your education and pursue degrees in healthcare. There are no limits to what you can do with the knowledge that you learn in school; only more doors to open and new places to go.
